Is your passion to help empower girls from under-served communities in Western Washington?  Girl Scouts is seeking a program coordinator for our staff-led Her Vision Her Voice (GSVV) program.  This program provides services to support the social, emotional and educational development of girls in grades K-12 at designated partner locations in King and Snohomish Counties.   Our community partners include public housing authorities, host agencies, and schools. 

 

As a program coordinator, you will provide direct, on-site service to girls in low income housing communities and surrounding schools, and will assist in partnership development and growth of the GSVV program with our community partners.  You will also develop innovative curriculum and tailored activities to address their interests and needs, based on best practices in youth development and the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE). 

 

Experience working with under-served youth is required.  The program sites vary and could include locations throughout Seattle and Everett.  Reliable transportation is required.  Meetings are typically held weekdays between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm.  Some weekends are required throughout the year.

 Essential Functions:

 Primary

Deliver the Girl Scouts program, as a troop leader, consistent with GSUSA and Girl Scouts of Western Washington policies and program at designated locations.

In collaboration with the Staff led, and GSVV teams, develop age-appropriate curriculum and enrichment activities specific to the diverse populations served.

Build collaborations with community partners and host agencies as appropriate, and maintain positive ongoing relationships and proactive communication.

Recruit and support volunteers as Girl Scout troop meeting assistants.

Secondary

Ensure administrative components are timely and efficiently completed; including, but not limited to, girl registration forms, event permission slips, monthly activity reports, attendance records, and girl surveys. 

 Coordinate and implement seasonal Girl Scout activities such as the Girl Scout Cookie Program and Girl Scout Camp.

 Conduct recruitment of girls in grades k- 12th in cooperation with agency partners and other community supporters.

 Collaborate with the Program Manager to ensure program quality/girl outcomes, and growth in volunteers is met.

Perform other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to: inter-departmental, cross-program support and development.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

·         Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience

·         One year experience effectively working with youth grades K-12th.

·         One year experience in group facilitation with youth  grades K-12th

·         Demonstrated social justice framework and cultural responsiveness to effectively work with culturally, racially, and socio-economically diverse groups

·         Demonstrated ability to cultivate long term relationships with girls and their families while maintaining boundaries and confidentiality

·         Strong commitment to supporting the cultural competency of girls and staff and the equity and inclusion efforts of the organization

·         Demonstrated success working with volunteers

·         Knowledge of youth development preferred

·         Effective interpersonal skills to ensure effective interactions with individuals at all levels and backgrounds

·         Availability to work designated schedule including some nights and weekends, as necessary

·         Valid Washington State driver's license, vehicle in good working condition to fulfill work obligations.  Proof of insurance required

·         Skilled in Outlook and Word and familiar with Excel, Access or other database program

·         Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative and maintain confidentiality

·         Ability to secure and maintain first aid and CPR certification within three months of hire

·         Must be at least 21 years of age

·         Satisfactory results from criminal background search and a good driving record

·         Willing to maintain membership in Girl Scouts
